Come Out and Play!

The KPMS Cougars Athletic Program is a big part of our school. Time spent on the court, mat, track or field help these young people learn many skills they will use throughout their lives. Being a part of a team, win or loose, teaches students much about themselves and how to work together with others to achieve a common goal.

Our program is all about participation, teamwork and learning. As much as possible we include all interested students that want to participate. Although we must cut for basketball and volleyball, this is done based as much on effort and attitude as it is the individual skill for the sport. We also offer manager positions and practice only options for some students that demonstrate a significant interest in a sport even though they may not have the skills or experience to compete at this time. KPMS 7th and 8th grade students are eligible for all sports. 6th Grade students can participate in Wrestling and Track or as managers for any sport.

Sports Related Fees:

  • $15.00 Pay to Play for each sport (Fee Waivers available based on information on the Free and Reduced Lunch Form)

  • $15.00 Associated Student Body (ASB) Fee - one time fee good for all sports during a school year

  • Sports Physical $$ fee varies $$ They are good for 2 years (see below)

Sports Participation Packet:  Students can pick up a sport specific packet from the KPMS main office prior to the season start.  These packets must be completed by a parent/guardian and delivered back to the office in a timely manor in order to insure the student will be able to start practice on the first day. The packet contains the following components:

  • Required Student Information for Participation in Athletics/Activities (Salmon) A new form is required for each sport season.  Once this form is cleared by office staff it will be signed "Student Cleared to Participate" and returned to the student to be given to the coach.

Sports Physical:  Any student wanting to participate in a school sport must have a current Sports Physical (forms may vary) on file here at KPMS.  These physicals are done by a physician and are good for 24 months so if your student has participated in a sport in the past 24 months they do not need to be re-examined.  Your family doctor may perform these exams or they are offered by the following local businesses.  (Cost for these exams may vary so please remember to ask before you commit).
